Foreword written for the 2008 revision of the 2001 book Best Friend For Life by Anne Bobby. In it, Neil proclaims Bobby's great empathy for dog-kind, relating how she will stop and talk to every dog she passes in Brooklyn, barely noticing their owners. Gaiman also tells of how he had previously been a cat person, referring to a failed dog-walking career in his childhood, until he picked up Cabal on the side of the road. The introduction is illustrated by a photograph of Gaiman with Cabal credited to N.Gaiman.
